This video was not too difficult to make, but still had parts that were challenging, mainly with timing. I wanted the colors to fade and come back at certain times in the video according to the song, and since iMovie doesn't do a good job of letting you know what time you are selecting, this was a little difficult (if that makes any sense).
The first step in making this video was walking home and filming my route. This was probably the easiest part, aside from all the weird looks I got from holding my iPhone out in front of me all the way from the MLB to my house. After uploading, I realized that if I wanted to edit certain parts of the video I would have to split the clip, since I did the whole thing in one take. It took me a while to figure out how to do that, but I finally managed. After that I realized I had to speed up the video to about 300%, not only because a 6-minute video of my walk home would be awfully boring, but also because I liked the fast-paced and shaky motion of the video.
Next I played around with visual effects, changing the exposure, saturation, brightness and contrast to get the right filter. I wanted most of the video to look like some sort of a dream, so I used a filter with soft edges, upped the brightness and contrast, and boosted the color a little bit. I think I got a good end result. Figuring out the visual adjustments went along with timing the video to the song - I had to cut it up at just the right places (when certain beats drop) to add or take away the color of the clip. This was a tedious process, but I got the timing right where I wanted in the end. After adding in some title clips, slowing down the last part of the video and changing the color scheme for that part, I was done editing the video.
Let me know what you think!
PS. This is probably my favorite song right now...check out Summer Heart, they're great.
